Do you think close platonic friendships between a man and a woman can truly exist?

I've come to realize that with every guy I've considered my best friend, after a while, one of us fell for the other. I'm not saying that platonic friendships between men and women DON'T exist, I'm saying I don't think they can exist when two straight people of the opposite are that close. What do you think?
