Why do so many people refer to hostility from "both sides" in the Dem primaries?

What shots has Obama fired? The man has done nothing but clear the record after numberous attempts to slander his name or distort his position by the Clintons. I commend him for defending himself, after all we don't want another John Kerry, now do we?
