In the movie Ripley's Game, did Ripley sleep with David Trevanny's wife? Please help me out with an answer!

I am confused as to whether this actually happened in the movie, as the version I saw only shows Ripley having a solo meeting with David's wife. It was a romantic interaction, but only Platonic.
